Boston, MA – Bronx native, John Holland signed a two-year contract with the Boston Celtics.

The 6-5 guard was called up from the Canton Charge of the NBA Developmental League.  He caught the eye of Celtics coach, Brad Stevens after having a strong performance recently in the D-League playoffs when Canton eliminated the Celtics minor league affiliate, Maine Red Claws.

In 37 games he averaged 16 points, while shooting 52 percent from the field.  Known for his shooting, athleticism and professionalism, Holland hopes to stick with the Celtics, as the second year of his contract is not guaranteed.

He was a participant in the 2006 Big Apple Basketball Scholarship Games following his senior campaign at Fordham Prep. He also played in the 2007 BAB Invitational, as a post-grad at St. Benedict’s (NJ).  Ironically, he played against current Boston Celtics guard, Isaiah Thomas in the BAB Invitational, as Thomas starred as a junior, for South Kent (CT).
